Range / power
By reducing the diameter and rotating mass of your rear wheel, the decrease in range and power is minimal on stock power and gearing.
However, by installing a smaller rear wheel on stock gearing you can expect more torque in the low end and a slightly decreased top speed. To maintain similar top speeds we would suggest that you size down on sprocket size, adversely to increase torque even further we would suggest that you size up on sprocket, for example a 54T or 58T sprocket.
