Introducing the Sur-Ron Light Bee 2: 24kW, 65kg, and a World-First Battery

It's official, the Surron Light Bee 2 is coming to Australia, and it's the most significant launch in Surron's history to date. It's a ground-up redesign of the entire mid-size platform. Featuring a new motor, new frame, a world-first battery, and electronics both the Light Bee and Ultra Bee have never seen before. The first shipment arrives in Australia late August, and stock is extremely limited.

24kW in a 65kg package

Here's the main headline, 24kW of peak power and 410Nm of torque at the wheel, in a bike that weighs just 65kg. That's Ultra Bee power wrapped in the compact, flickable chassis the Light Bee is famous for. The numbers translate to 0–50km/h in 1.8 seconds and a top speed of 90km/h. Slotting between the Light Bee X and the Ultra Bee, the Light Bee 2 creates a performance standard that simply hasn't exist before.

A world-first semi-solid-state battery

Sur-Ron has announced a new semi-solid-state battery, developed with QingTao Energy, a world first for a production electric motorcycle at this price point. The 78.54V/45Ah pack delivers 3.53kWh of usable energy at a cell density of 320Wh/kg, which to you is probably just a whole bunch of useless jargon, yet the whole unit weighs just 14.9kg. Range is rated at up to 108km at 40km/h (160km at 25km/h), and a 20–80% charge takes about two hours.

The new EVO-2 motor

Powering it all is Surron's new EVO-2 motor: smaller, lighter, and far more powerful than the unit in the Light Bee X. It spins 67% faster (8,700 vs 5,200 RPM) while being 9% smaller in diameter, which is how Surron packed a 200% power increase into the same overall bike dimensions. Insane.

Seven ride modes, serious electronics

The new Bee Matrix controller manages the power through seven ride modes: Crawl for technical low-speed work, Eco for maximum range, Daily for balanced riding, Sport for spirited trails, Track for race days, Turbo for short bursts of peak power, and a fully customisable M mode configured through the Surron app.

It's also the most electronically sophisticated Sur-Ron ever offered in Australia: SWC wheelie control with separate Beginner and Advanced modes, three-stage traction control, a linear regenerative braking system (RBS) with a progressive trigger, and full Bluetooth app integration for ride modes, M-mode customisation, and ride data.

Forged frame, Kashima forks, four-piston brakes

The chassis is all new too. A one-piece forged aluminium double-cradle frame is 50% stronger than the Light Bee X chassis, with welds eliminated from high-stress areas. That means it's built for jumps, whoops, and proper enduro abuse. Up front, premium 38mm dual-chamber Kashima-coated forks offer 215mm of travel (up from 200mm), matched to a fully tuned rear shock and linkage. Braking gets a matching upgrade: new ultra bee style four-piston calipers on 220/203mm rotors front and rear.

Colours, pricing and availability

The Light Bee 2 arrives in four colourways: Midnight Black, Spruce Green, Desert Brown, and Glacier White (Glacier White lands with the second shipment, about four weeks after the first). Every bike ships with a free Sur-Ron branded torque wrench tool kit and a 12-month warranty.

RRP is $8,990 inc GST. Note the Light Bee 2 is sold as an off-road vehicle only; a road-legal ADR-compliant variant is currently in development.
